Clarivate's Cortellis was the standard pre-AI product for regulatory teams. It's global, analyst-curated, but shallow and leaves you with a pile of documents. Rhizome helps you go deeper, to truly understand regulators' perspectives and arrive at an answer in minutes.
Cortellis and Rhizome overlap on the phrase “regulatory intelligence” and almost nowhere else in product shape.
Summaries vs the record itself. Cortellis is built from curation: analysts read the world's regulatory output and condense it into structured records, digests, and alerts. That's genuinely valuable: it's why the breadth is what it is. But curation has a structural ceiling: when your question is specific to your product, your endpoint, your pathway, a summary written for everyone answers no one. You end up back in the primary documents anyway, and buyers tell us the strategy analysis gets redone by their own SMEs regardless.
Rhizome skips the middle layer. Our agents read the filings, reviews, guidances, and letters directly — >45 million documents across >75 health authority databases in >12 markets (as of August 2026) — and every claim cites the exact passage it came from. Not “a record about the approval.” The approval.
Asking vs monitoring. A curated suite is strongest at standing coverage: what changed this week, across many jurisdictions, delivered as a feed. Rhizome is strongest at the other motion: you have a hard question right now — “what did FDA accept for this endpoint across the last 30 similar products?” — and you need it answered exhaustively, not eventually. Hard questions routinely pull hundreds to thousands of sources. That's not a feed's job, and honestly, feeds aren't ours.
How you buy. Cortellis is an enterprise procurement: custom quote, onboarding, a contract cycle. Plenty of big organizations are fine with that. Rhizome is self-serve with published pricing and a free tier: you can test it on a real question before anyone talks to procurement. For most of the market, the product's biggest competitor is its own six-month buying process.
The AI layer. Having an AI feature is not the same thing as reimagining your product in the era of AI. Cortellis's AI still relies heavily on memory, and it helps you traverse the same, analyst-annotated databases to arrive at a pile of documents. You should demand more.
One of our customers put it best when first seeing Rhizome: “This is what I was hoping for when I first tried out Cortellis's AI.”
